I've tested a plethora of different cables. I've updated my XPS 13's Thunderbolt drivers and firmware. But again, that only lets me use one monitor at a time. I can also get the monitors to work if I use a Type-C-to-HDMI connection, where the HDMI connector plugs into the monitor and the Type-C connector plugs into the dock. But that only lets me hook up one monitor, plus I then can't connect the dock, which leaves all my other peripherals out in the cold. Because I am getting no signal whenever I try to hook my monitors up through the TS3 Plus dock via any sort of Type-C or DisplayPort connection.īoth monitors work perfectly fine if I connect them directly to the XPS 13's Thunderbolt port. That way, I could have a native Type-C-to-Type-C connection for one monitor and a Type-C-to-DisplayPort connection for the other. I even thought I'd be super-clever and order two monitors that support connection via USB Type-C. Spent a deal of time lurking around these boards in preparation, and the word seemed to be, "Get a dock." So I did: a Caldigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 dock, which in theory should be able to support two monitors (they even have a video on how to do this here). I'm attempting to arrange a dual-monitor setup for my home studio. 1 monitor connected to dock via USB 3.1 Type-C-to-DisplayPort cable.
